Docking station & multiple screens

This section presents a few simple settings that can make your use of a docking station and multiple screens more seamless.

Set what happens when the computer lid is closed

  1. Search for “Control Panel” in the search bar at the bottom of the screen

  2. Open the Control Panel

  3. Click on “Hardware and Sound”

  4. Click on “Power option”

  5. In the menue on the left, click on “Choose what closing the lid does”

  6. To the right of “When I close the lid:”, select “Do nothing” under “On battery”

  7. Under “Plugged in”, select “Do nothing”

  8. Save the changes

  9. Test this by connecting your laptop to the docking station and closing the lid. Your screens should continue to display the computer screen

Set up Facial Recognition (Windows Hello)

With facial recognition via Windows Hello, you can quickly and securely sign in to your computer without a password.

 

  1. Search for “Settings” in the search bar at the borrom of your screen

  2. Open Settings

  3. Once in Settings, click on “Accounts”

  4. Then click on “Sign-in options”

  5. Open “Face recognition (Windows Hello)” using the arrow

  6. Click on “Set up”

  7. Click on “Get started”

  8. Enter your pin

  9. Look inte the camera and position your face in the centre of the frame

With fingerprint recognition via Windows Hello, you can quickly and securely sign in to your computer with just a touch.

  1. Search for “Settings” in the search bar at the bottom of you screen

  2. Click on “Open”

  4. Click the arrow next to “Sign-in options”

  1. Search for the app you want to pin to your taskbar

  2. Right-click on the app

  3. Click on “Pin to taskbar”
