Microphone not working in Microsoft Teams

Microphone not working in Microsoft Teams

If others cannot hear you in a Teams meeting, there are a few things you can do to solve the problem. Follow the steps below

Check if the microphone works in Windows:

  1. Click on the Start menu (Windows logo at the bottom left or in the middle).

  2. Type "sound settings" and press Devices.

  3. In the window that opens, scroll down to "Input".

  4. Make sure the correct microphone is selected from the list — if you have a headset, select it.

  5. Talk a bit and see if the blue narrow bar labeled “volume” moves. Does it move? Then the microphone works!

If you cannot hear yourself but the microphone volume is responding, check that your headphones are properly connected and selected in the “Output” menu in the sound settings.

The microphone works in Windows but not in Teams:

  1. Open Microsoft Teams.

  2. Click on your profile picture at the top right.

  3. Select Settings > Devices.

  4. Under Microphone, ensure that the correct device is selected. Feel free to test by speaking and checking if the indicator responds.

  5. If nothing is heard, click on "Make a test call" further down – Teams will record and play a message in a test call so you know if everything works.

If you are using a wired headset, try unplugging it and plugging it back in.

Restart your computer after making changes.

Make sure the microphone is not blocked by another program (e.g., Skype, Zoom).
